Charles Wakefield Cadman: Pennsylvania Symphony

Charles Wakefield Cadman (1881-1946): Pennsylvania Symphony BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Winston Dan Vogel American composer Charles Wakefield Cadman composed his Pennsylvania Symphony in 1939. He states that many of the themes reflect his childhood in Pennsylvania. Sadly, the symphony has been very definitely ignored by the American music establishment. In fact, this upload is from a British broadcast of the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by an Israeli American conductor which suggests that the British hold our lost generation of composers in higher esteem than we ourselves do. There exists another upload of this symphony on You Tube by KuhlauDilfeng2 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Albert Coates in concert in 1940 which may have been the premiere performance. If these two You Tube performances cannot prod some interest in a commercial recording of this lovely work, I don’t know what will.
