After incredible talks discussing ideas of all kinds, TEDxPhilly was punctuated with a message that threaded through the day: Do your thing. Ursula Rucker performed a few of her pieces and left the crowd craving more TEDxPhilly. In 1994, Ursula performed at an open-mic night at Philadelphia's Zanzibar Blue and hasn't looked back. She has recorded five albums and has appeared on four Roots albums. Rucker is has also been named Creative Ambassador for the City of Philadelphia. http://myspace.com/ursularucker In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxPhilly, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxPhilly event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
