This might be other model years as well. This is not the maintenance manual way to replace the alternator. That says to cut the exhaust and pull the passenger control arm. That is madness. This way works. This is the second time I've done it (the last alternator only lasted 3 years). I jack up the car, pull the passenger tire, pull the wheel well plastic, disconnect the belt, 3 alternator bolts, and spin it to disconnect the electrical connection. There's no good way to get it out though. I then pull the air manifold and throttle bottle, along with everything connected to the at the top of the engine, and pull the alternator up the firewall. Then push the new one down the hole and reconnect everything in reverse order. All in all takes 2 hours (for what would be a 15 minute job if the Ford engineer wasn't a jerk). Rockauto alternator. Taxes/shipping and all was about $110.
