Every June they used to hold the “Hadlock Days” celebration in the Kivley Center and the surrounding areas with vendors, a small parade through the center of town, fire truck and helicopter rides, beer gardens, competitions and live music. The annual Hadlock Days festival started in 1979 and continued until 2012, when it was canceled due to lack of sponsorship. Growing up, I lived in a house that sat right next door to this festival, and it usually happened the week that summer break started, so this was always a particularly exciting time for my friends and I. This footage takes a quick stroll through the Kivley Center and some of Port Hadlock as the festival is taking place and also as it’s winding down in the later afternoon.
