Cashew nuts are an important economic crop in Thailand, with cultivation increasing every year and playing a significant role in generating income for farmers and entrepreneurs. However, the trade of cashew nuts lacks clear quality assessment standards, resulting in buyers bearing the burden of costs and risks associated with sorting and managing quality after purchase. This often leads to lower purchasing prices, adversely affecting the financial liquidity and sales capability of buyers. To address this issue, an AI project for assessing the quality of cashew nuts has been established through collaboration between faculty members and students from the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, and private sector operators. This project develops an AI system for evaluating the quality of cashew nuts using various techniques, such as image processing for measuring the size of cashew nuts, deep learning for image classification, and linear classification for data analysis. The aim is to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of quality assessment while reducing risks and costs associated with managing cashew nuts.
