A 10,000 foot lavafall, the tallest in the solar system, cascaded down a steep sulfur covered cliff. By the time it reached the caldera floor, approximately 58 seconds had passed. This is the story of the vast lavafalls which were generated during the 1997 eruption of the Pillan Patera volcano on Jupiter's Moon of Io. A special thanks to Jesper Sandberg for giving me permission to use talking points from their volcanocafe article. They also gave me some answers to a few questions I had on Io's volcanoes.
