Took the Blackmagic Pocket 6K Pro out for a real-world lens test, pairing it with two unlikely heroes: the Canon EF-S 10–18mm and 18–135mm and a Glimmer Glass 5. Not exactly cinema glass — but that was the point. The 10–18mm gave us those wide, breathing frames — perfect for movement, handheld shots, and capturing space without distortion overload. The built-in stabilization helped smooth out jitters while chasing light on foot. Then I slapped on the 18–135mm, and suddenly we had reach. Tight frames, soft backgrounds, and that sweet spot for run-and-gun versatility. Surprisingly sharp, shockingly steady. Neither lens is flashy or particularly interesting— but that’s the beauty. Paired with the 6K Pro, Glimmer Glass 5 they punch above their weight. Clean image. Decent glass. Zero stress. Sometimes, the gear that “shouldn’t” work… just works. All that said, I am returning the 18-135mm as I want something a bit more high performing so I ordered the Canon L 24-105mm IS f/4 to take its place. 10-18mm is just too wide to pass on.
