“FLAMINGO BAR” was a visual theatre performance from figuren theater tübingen puppets and performer: Frank Soehnle music: rat’n’X (Johannes Frisch & Stefan Mertin) direction: Hendrik Mannes light and sound engineer: Karin Ersching Premiere: 6.12.1996, FITZ Stuttgart The idea behind “Flamingo Bar” was to develop a production based entirely on the figures. The plan was to place the figures at the heart of the production, as opposed to using them to convey a predefined role. The motifs, subject matter and relationships were crystallised during the rehearsals. The interaction between player and theatre figure leads to an allegorical conflict of the heart, in which the individual figures embody various parts of the self. The production incorporates elements from dance, theatre and varieté. “Flamingo Bar” was performed in 48 countries from 1996 till 2006.
