Blackbraid's new release, Nocturnal Womb, is a surprise EP released on March 6, 2026 (independent, available on Bandcamp and in physical formats such as 10" vinyl). Unlike a full album, this is a short work with only three tracks, positioned as material "outside the trilogy" of the main albums (Blackbraid I, II and III). According to the project itself, the two new songs ("Nocturnal Womb" and "Celestial Bloodlust") were considered too dark and visceral to fit into the cohesive narrative of Blackbraid III (2025), so they earned this space of their own as a standalone EP. The sound maintains the essence of Blackbraid: atmospheric black metal with Native American roots, themes of nature, native mythology, paganism, blood, soil and ancestral spirituality. The new tracks seem to lean towards a more raw, visceral and merciless tone than the previous album, while the acoustic track offers contrast and reinforces the connection with the work. Previous. It's a quick and direct release, almost like "dark B-sides" or leftovers that didn't fit on the larger album, but still carry a lot of intensity. Ideal for those who enjoy the more aggressive and atmospheric side of indigenous black metal.
