In this new DOS Dive episode, I explore some truly strange and unexpected retro PC games hidden in online archives — and this one gets wild. I start with La Cosa Nostra, which I honestly thought was a joke at first… but it turns out to be a first-person shooter where you punch henchmen to an oddly Italian-style soundtrack. Sadly, the brutal frame rate makes it hard to survive past level one. Next up is Dragon Ball Z: Saiyin and Namek Saga, a very pixelated and extremely odd take on the Dragon Ball universe. Let’s just say it has little connection to the world created by Akira Toriyama, and that makes it even more bizarre. Then I move on to an Apogee-style title, Forbidden Planet, featuring a cute main character and surprisingly solid gameplay. Definitely one of the better surprises of the episode. Things get more interesting with Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, created by Alan Caudel. It doesn’t appear to be an official Lucasfilm release, but it’s actually pretty fun and captures some classic Star Wars arcade energy. Finally, I end with the legendary Captain Bible in the Dome of Darkness, a game where you play as a Bible superhero who must memorise scripture to defeat robotic enemies. Surprisingly well made… but the concept had me laughing the entire time. Another chaotic retro gaming episode full of forgotten DOS games, weird fan creations, strange FPS experiments, and hidden PC gems from the 90s. If you enjoy retro gaming, MS-DOS games, abandoned PC titles, and discovering strange hidden classics, this series is for you.
