Among his many instrumental albums of cover songs for Gene Norman's GNP Crescendo label, guitarist/songwriter Billy Strange dedicated one to hit songs recorded by British artists. It was aptly titled English Hits Of '65. From it are these two Beatles covers... "Eight Days A Week" and "Ticket To Ride," which were back-to-back Number One hits for The Fab Four in early 1965. They were among seven songs Billy recorded at Western Recorders for the album. One of Billy's favorite musicians called in time and time again for sessions he held was Leon Russell, who is on these as keyboard player. These two were six of that album's tracks used on the 1992 Crescendo compilation cd Billy Strange The Hit Parade.
