The frequency band from 7.125 GHz to 24.25 GHz is attracting attention as possible additional spectrum for 6G (or 5G), and is already being unofficially referred to as FR3. The wavelength is attractive as it is less susceptible to attenuation than FR2 frequencies, simplifying the coverage, and includes enough unallocated frequencies to support wider channels than FR1 (100 MHz). Various alliances are forming as spectrum working groups to begin to analyze which frequencies within the band are free, and interference issues with adjacent spectrum. This video runs through the frequencies from 7.125 GHz to 24.25 GHz, highlighting the bands with the maximum potential for next-generation wireless services.
