My childhood hope chest got an extreme makeover!

My childhood hope chest got a complete makeover! This lane chest was given to me by my dad when I was probably nine or ten years old. I had it with me until I moved away when I was about 18 and I haven’t seen it since. I won’t do the math, but it’s been a very long time since I’ve seen it. Close to 35 years! After my dad passed recently, it was time to pick this up and give it a makeover so that I could find a place for it in my home. I always knew I wanted to keep it, but I just never had the place for it and over the course of so many years I never had the skill set to be able to give it a new look. Now I do! This was painted and a beautiful creamy white, and after removing some of the details, the old hardware I wanted it to have just a very simplistic design. I removed the old crumbling base and built new base out of Maple and a stain in a color that would make it look like driftwood. Now that it is all done, I love being able to look at this piece every day, and it brings back such great memories from my childhood. I have a bunch of heirlooms from my dad that will be stored in this chest. Painted in Organic White by Farmhouse Evolution. I did a full tutorial on building the base which is posted in my reels.
