In Odisha's Bhadrak district, residents are facing severe waterlogging and flood-like conditions as the Salandi river swells due to continuous rain. Several areas including Dhanatola, Durgapur, Nuanagar, and Nuasahi under Ward 28 and 29 are completely waterlogged, with floodwater entering homes, causing daily hardship and fear of disease outbreak. Despite multiple tenders issued three years ago for river embankment construction, the work has not even begun. Locals allege that funds have been sanctioned but siphoned, and that crores have been spent on de-silting the river, yet debris remains, worsening the flood risk.
