This is our First episode of North Odisha Series, we started our journey from Jajpur shakti peeth,explored ancient Buddhist sites, enjoyed odia food at a restaurant and finally reached kendrapara famous temple of Kendra para- shri Baldev jew. Jajpur is one of the oldest historic regions of Odisha, once known as Viraja Kshetra. It was an ancient capital during several dynasties and is famous for its deep connection with Shakti worship and Buddhist heritage. The town blends spirituality, archaeology, and culture, making it an important starting point for exploring North Odisha. Date of Journey - 3rd November 2025 Maa Biraja Temple - We start at the sacred Maa Biraja Temple, one of the major Shakti Peethas in India. Goddess Biraja is worshipped as Dwibhuja Durga, holding a spear and resting her foot on Mahishasura. The temple features classic Kalinga architecture, peaceful inner courtyards, and a spiritually rich atmosphere. Ratnagiri Buddhist Site - It contains 1500-year-old monasteries, stupas, shrines, and beautifully carved doorways. You will see too many excavations revealed rare sites. Entry fee - Rs 20 Jamuna Restaurant - We had lunch at this restaurant serves 40-50 varieties located in Chandikhol. Lalitagiri Buddhist Site - You will see Archaeological remains date back to the 1st–2nd century AD, making it one of the oldest Buddhist centres in the region. Excavations have uncovered stupas, monasteries, prayer halls, ancient brick structures, and a huge Maha-stupa. One of the major highlights is the discovery of sacred relics believed to be associated with Lord Buddha. Entry fee - Rs 20 Museum and site is closed on Friday. Kendrapara: Baladevjew Temple - Then we reach Kendrapara, where we visit the historic Baladevjew Temple, dedicated to Lord Balabhadra, elder brother of Lord Krishna. The temple’s architecture and rituals follow the same tradition as Puri’s Jagannath Temple. Outside the temple - We tried Patoli Pitha - Rs 10 per pc Killa Aul Palace - By evening, we reach our stay at the Killa Aul Palace, a heritage property located near Aul town. Room details: ₹7,500 – Double occupancy (our room) ₹12,000 – Higher category room available For dinner at the palace, we enjoy traditional Odia dishes such as: Elephant Apple Curry (Oou Khatta style), Karela Sabzi, Chakuli Pitha, Coconut-stuffed Parmal After this we end our video.
