A Christmas Improvisation on a Toccata by Widor

Someone once told me that apparently Widor composed his eponymous Toccata from his Fifth Organ Symphony whilst riding on a train. Whether true or not, the great master certainly explained how it should be played as being like the powerful stroke of the piston of a steam engine. Hence for a Christmas performance it would have been been remiss of me not to have included my toy train, even if it was trying to drown me out with its whistle. This improvisation however takes a very different route to the usual one to get to the final chord of the piece. Enjoy the ride! Note: The recording was made on my home-built virtual pipe organ, playing the Hauptwerk Salisbury Cathedral Father Willis sample set.
