Oil spill cleanup in creek old video footage. This video was recorded many years ago. I stumbled upon it and thought it might be interesting to share. As described, an oil tanker truck spun out and slid backwards down towards the bridge, but didn't manage to stay on the road. Apparently he tipped the tanker over spilling some crude oil into the frozen creek bed. We helped the cleanup by hauling all the dirt and gravel from the excavator, and replaced it with new clean pit-run. All the contaminated gravel was hauled to an industrial landfill, and when the job was finished, there was no sign of oil or any risk to the environment including fish habitat. Mistakes can sometimes cost a lot of money to repair and the mistake of not having tire chains on the oil tanker that day must have cost multiples more than the cost of the cleanup.
