driving to the first field today i see a rooster in the road about 40 yards from where we parked.........we hit the field about 9 and Patty had a rooster in the air in about 10 minutes but i was to far away and i didnt shoot....we hunted a couple more hours with no more birds in the air...got back to the truck and Stephy started to work and her a Patty ran the rooster we had seen on the road when we first got there for about 200 yards in some super dense woods and when it lifted i heard it cackle and leave the ground but couldnt see it to shoot..........got to the second field and after about 15 minutes my girls had a rooster in the air but there were other hunters and i wasnt sure where they were so i didnt shoot at that bird either........we hunted the next few hours with nothing.....they went hot a few times but no birds left the ground as im sure they were track stars.....got to the last field of the day about 3 and at 315 they had a rooster in the air i unloaded my gun on and missed.......5 minutes later they had a hen in the air and i take it after missing on the first shot then connecting on the second shot.......as soon as i pick the bird up Stephy busts a rooster out and i take it with a single shot but we couldnt find the bird.......we looked for 10 minutes and just couldnt find it......never had that happen ever but Stephy is loosing her hearing and she just didnt get a good bead on where it fell after the shot and i thought i knew but obviously didnt so that was extremely disappointing......this whole time there were 3 guys about 400 yards other end of field with 3 dogs basically watching all this and hearing all this go down........ after they heard me and my girls doing damage they had to come and get within 50 yards of us which i thought was bullshit but its public land and there is always guys like that.....sad but true.......i get my girls gathered up and we start in a direction away from them and within 5 minutes my girls put another hen in the air and i take it with one shot.....so afyer a dismal morning and in 20 minutes maybe 30 we had our 2 birds..........i sure wish i could have heard those guys talking after they basically watched all this go down........hahahahaha.............probably something like..... whos this asshole with the BADASS dogs........hahahaha...i also didnt do a very good job of getting the birds lifting for the vid before i dropped my phone for the shot as i was a bit anxious.....i still need to get a better recording device to get the birds in flight before the shot.....either way we got 2 hens and did our photo shoot....30 degrees and a great first day out
