This is a video tribute to the memories and history of Manteno State Hospital until it's final demolition. I made this video because i have grown a huge interest with Manteno State Hospital within the passed 2 years and have visited the last remaining buildings. Everything now is mostly all demolished except for a few areas. This video starts off with the history of Manteno State Hospital and when it was first opened in the late 1920's. It became the largest mental health facility in the state of Illinois and even in the US. It was rumored that patients were being abused and tortured there by the staff. They say that patients were put into a hot boiling tub of water and then thrown right into a cold tub. People who didn't have serious problems were even committed because of small reasons like drinking, drugs, refusing to listen to somebody, or even if a person cheats on their spouse. A girl was once committed their sometime in the 1930's just because she refused to move with her parents. While she spent her time at MSH they tortured her and treated her for an illness that she didn't even have. When she was released sometime in the late 1960's she wasn't the same person like before she was committed. So I'm also dedicating this video to all of the patients that were committed into MSH. The theme i used in this video is by Loreena McKennit - Dante's Prayer and I do not own this material. I am using this in my video presentation where it doesn't require any legal permission. I don't own any of the pictures in this video and am only using it for educational reasons only.
