Jakarta, Indonesia - The Jakarta based label, LOCALE has released a range of capsule collection that focuses on the negative impact of fast fashion that causes environmental havoc. Since its inception in 2012, LOCALE has been very vocal about social and political issues that happened within Indonesian societies by translating them into a range of apparel line that holds a bold mission statement in each collection. To finish off the end of the season, the brand continued to inject social and political issues into fashion with the unveiling of an Anti-Fast Fashion capsule titled ‘True Cost’ that focuses on the controversy surrounding the costs and processes involved with clothes manufacturing. According to an April 2016 Oxfam report, more than 60 million people work in the garment industry to fuel fast fashion: more than 15 million of those are based in Asia and more than 80% are women, often young and from poor rural backgrounds. Through the ‘True Cost’ collection, LOCALE is hoping to garner awareness regarding the issues so that all people are more inclined to buy the products from the brands that are implementing fair trade and sustainability into their production cycle.
