Returning to making music together after the hiatus imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Cleveland Chamber Choir presents "Madrigals of All Times", lead by Artistic Director Scott MacPherson. Drawing from a diverse collection of European and American composers from the sixteenth century to today, we contrast settings of the same poetry, composed centuries apart. Central to this concert are two world premieres: Three Madrigals by renowned Northeast Ohio composer Dolores White; and Two Madrigals by Adolphus Hailstork, which had been presumed lost. Also featured on this program is music by Aleotti, Weelkes, Gibbons, Josquin, Bennet, Stainer, Lauridsen, Brahms, and Rindfleisch. As past meets present, let the words and sounds of emotion ranging from parting grief, passion, and honor wash over you. Since our fourth season, we have partnered with local philanthropic organizations that help people in need. For this performance, we are delighted to work with the YMCA of Greater Cleveland. A portion of donations made between May 15 and June 1, 2021 will go to support the mission of the YMCA of Greater Cleveland. Donation link is below.
