Jason explains the mathematics that govern the patterns which are naturally occurring phenomena. He then proffers his own mathematical theorem that may have vast application in a variety of fields, including medical devices. Jason Meisel is a graduate of Pine Crest School (Class of 2017). Jason intends to study mathematics with a concentration within the different sciences. Jason has become really passionate about synchronization due to his research project mentored by Dr. Luc Wille, Chairman of the Physics Department at Florida Atlantic University. Within his research, Jason programmed the Kuramoto model—a mathematical approach to analyze synchronization—within the matrix-based computer language, MatLab, to investigate the correlation between the number of oscillators to the strength of interaction needed for a system to synchronize. Jason submitted his results in a research paper to Regeneron Science Talent Search and was awarded the Research Report Badge to recognize his project. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
