In the quiet corners of Kinassery, Kozhikode, lives K. Hydrose—better known to the world as Radio Koya. This documentary explores the extraordinary life of a man whose entire identity was shaped by a single voice. Long before streaming and playlists, he became a radio mechanic for one simple reason, to listen to Radio Ceylon. Fixing radios meant access to music. And through those airwaves, he discovered the voice that would shape his life: Mohammed Rafi. What began as listening turned into devotion. In this film, Radio Koya speaks about how he earned his name, the effort it took to source rare records in an era without the internet, and the journey of building a collection of over 3,000+ vinyl records of old Hindustani and film music. Each record has a story. Each one was hunted down with patience. He recalls watching Rafi perform live at Mananchira, Kozhikode , a memory he carries with pride. He speaks about Rafi not just as a singer, but as a legend whose brilliance, he believes, no one can ever match. Today, as radio stations shut down and fewer people tune in, he worries about a world that no longer waits for songs. His hope is simple: that his home and collection will one day stand as a small private museum, a place where students can experience radio sets, record players, and the warmth of analog sound. Step inside a room where time stands still, and the "Golden Era" never ended. About the Channel & Production Afterimages is a channel dedicated to finding real, unhurried stories.
