Deputy Prosecutor Joel Garner began his cross-examination of Gerhardt Konig today not by questioning him about what happened on the Pali Puka Trail with his wife last year but by questioning him about his work as an anesthesiologist. He then questioned him about his wife's flirtatious relationship with a coworker and his decision to confront her about it. Prosecutors don't have to prove motive, and Konig is charged with second-degree attempted murder, not first-degree. But Garner still focused on what happened before the Pali Puka Trail before he ever broached the subject of the actual alleged attempted murder. After almost an hour and four minutes, Garner still hadn't asked a single question about what happened on the trail.
