Fans and collectors argue that the Moonswatch introduced Omega watches to a younger audience and pushed back the tide of smart watches that have been eroding entry-level Swiss watch production. Launched in 2020, the 39.7mm steel Speedmaster Caliber 321 is a faithful re-edition of the Omega Speedmaster 105.003 used by American astronaut Ed White during his pioneering space walk on June 3, 1965. The revival of column wheel chronograph caliber 321 answered the decades-long prayers of Omega watch collectors. Although priced at $15,400, the Speedmaster Caliber 321 remains so popular that dealers maintain waiting lists four years after the debut of the watch.
