This is a song of lament inspired by Psalm 44, which sees the psalmist asking God why he is far from him and seems to be uncaring towards his people. This reflects those moments of hardship and make us feel that God is far, yet while we cry out with questions we can also ask them in hope. Lyrics: Verse 1: The stories of old, Of your mighty deeds. Your people in bondage, But you set them free. Yet…what about me? Chorus: You seemed to have left me, My life scattered and shaken. Like a sheep to the slaughter, God, have I been forsaken? Verse 2: I know that your presence, Filled the temple with light. The enemies of Israel, Struck down and took flight. Yet what about me? Chorus: You seemed to have left me, My life scattered and shaken. Like a sheep to the slaughter, God, have I been forsaken? Bridge: God, Why are you sleeping, Do you not care? Your child is forgotten, I’m troubled and scared. Rise up and help me, Send strength from above. Redeem me my Savior, For the sake of your love. Chorus (new): You seemed to have left me, My life scattered and shaken. But I know you are near, Strengthen me as I’m waiting. Rise up and help me, Send strength from above. Redeem me my Savior, For the sake of your love.
