UPDATE: Through negotiation Ortur have agreed to provide a 'V5 throat tube + V6 Aluminum Block + Nozzle' to customers of the early models to rectify the unsecured thermistor issue. A copy of the firmware can also be obtained by email request. Please contact them at [email protected] Can you review a printer that isn’t finished? What exactly will the customer receive in the mail? They are important questions that I attempt to address in this 3D printer review. The Ortur 4 is a linear rail 3D printer boasting a reasonably large build volume and some other features such a removable magnetic build plate, high speed printing and filament runout detection. For the most part my unit produced good prints but there was definitely some significant issues, especially around transport and packaging. This 3D printer was provided free of charge for the purpose of testing. All opinions expressed are my own. If you already own this printer, please check and fix your thermistor mounting if necessary. Also contact Ortur and ask for the firmware source or an updated version so you can tweak the thermal runaway protection timing. Ortur informed me that the firmware source would be available on their new website when it launches soon. Ortur were very good to deal with an receptive to constructive feedback. After fixing the thermistor I expect this printer to be a reliable performer for my architect friend. The White House model filament is somewhat translucent, which displays the internal infill pattern, but the printed model still looks fantastic. If you are mainly printing (very fast) with PLA then this printer might be for you. Purchase the Ortur4 from the following links: Banggood (cheapest): https://www.banggood.com/custlink/mG3...
