This has happened to me many many times before: I write an arrangement for a song, then some time goes by where I don’t play it for a while, then I want to play it again, but I can’t play it right, because my brain is turning to banana pudding, so I go to my YouTube page where I posted the song, and listen to it to see what it is I am forgetting. But with this arrangement, I went back to the YouTube page, listened to it… and… Ouch, I mean yes, I could see what my fingers were supposed to do, but PEE YOO! What happened was, I prematurely played it for you guys, because I was too excited about it. (don’t bother looking for it, I’ve already deleted it… you’re welcome .) I remember being so excited about it, because it is probably my most favorite arrangement that I’ve ever put together. It is a marriage of two songs. “I Can Sing A Rainbow” by Arthur Hamilton, and “Rainbow Connection” by Paul Williams. Both wonderful songs. And John Vessels joined them together in his show “A Fabulous Evening With Lillian Baxter;” I still get goose flesh when I think about him performing these two in Key West. A message of love and acceptance; for me, it was a life changing moment. I guess that’s why I wanted to work harder on this arrangement, to make it worthy of the memory.
