Amsterdam 24 02 2023 Dutch barrel organ at Russian Embassy in The Hague At the request of artist Teun Castelein, a barrel organ stood in front of the Russian embassy in The Hague for a whole day on Friday February 24th. On this day it was exactly one year ago that Russia launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine. According to the artist, the organ "celebrated the anniversary in an appropriate way". For the occasion, the Ukrainian national anthem was put 'on organ book' and played between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m (original plan was till 8p.m.) The barrel organ 'De Blauwe Pilaar' is owned by the company Krul from Leiden. The ninety-key organ has an incredible range of 120 decibels. The event was documented by filmmaker Isabelle Griffioen of That's What She Set. Artist Teun Castelein creates art that disrupts, questions and confronts with work in which ironic humor and bloody seriousness go hand in hand. The Krul company supports his initiative. =========================================================== Draaiorgel bij Russische Ambassade Op verzoek van kunstenaar Teun Castelein stond er op vrijdag 24 februari een dag lang een draaiorgel voor de Russische ambassade in Den Haag. Op die dag was het exact één jaar geleden dat Rusland een grootschalig invasie startte op de Oekraïne. Het orgel zette deze verjaring op “gepaste wijze luister bij” volgens de kunstenaar. Speciaal voor de gelegenheid was het Oekraïense volkslied ‘op orgelboek’ gezet en werd tussen 8 uur s’ochtends tot 2 uur s’ middags afgespeeld. Originele plan was tot 8 uur s'avonds. Het draaiorgel ‘De Blauwe Pilaar’ is eigendom van de firma Krul uit Leiden. Het negentig toetsen orgel heeft een bereik van maar liefst 120 decibel. Registratie was in handen van Isabelle Griffioen van That's What She Set!
