Kashin Koji is operating under the belief that Kobu must be removed to preserve a future where Shikamaru remains Hokage and Jura can be defeated. But Boruto has repeatedly warned that knowing the future — and acting to change it — can cause timelines to fracture in unexpected and far worse ways. With Mamushi unleashed and Inojin controlling Kobu’s body through mind transfer, the variables have changed. Kobu may not react the way Koji expects. Claw Grime victims are known to become Shinju, but Mamushi is not a standard Claw Grime — he is an awakened Shinju. The series has never confirmed what happens if an awakened Shinju consumes a human and doesn’t immediately kill them. That rules gap opens the door to a terrifying theory: Kobu surviving as something else. Still, skepticism is warranted. In alternate timelines described by Kashin Koji, Mamushi kills Ada outright. There has been no clear confirmation that awakened Shinju create more Shinju through consumption. And narratively, Kobu becoming a Shinju only works if it meaningfully escalates the political conflict with the Feudal Lord and destabilizes the shinobi system even further. This breakdown explores the theory, the flaws in it, and why — even if it doesn’t happen — the possibility itself reveals how dangerous Kashin Koji’s interference with fate truly is.
