Belgium’s top court has delivered a decisive blow to Mehul Choksi’s legal battle. On December 9, 2025, the Court of Cassation — the Supreme Court of Belgium — rejected his appeal against the extradition order. The judgment upholds the earlier decision by the Antwerp Court of Appeal, clearing the way for Choksi’s return to India in connection with the ₹13,000‑crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case. Belgian judges concluded that Choksi failed to present any “concrete, plausible risk” of torture, inhuman treatment or miscarriage of justice in India — rejecting all claims of political persecution, previous alleged kidnapping, or judicial bias.
