Today I’m back in the soap kitchen making one of my favorites—lemon lavender tallow cold process soap 🌿🍋 In this video, I walk you through my full process using simple, nourishing ingredients like beef tallow (that I rendered myself!), olive oil, coconut oil, and castor oil. I’m scenting this batch with a fresh blend of lavender and lemon essential oils, measured at 3% of my oil weight and anchored with kaolin clay to help the scent last. I’m also sharing a few of my personal preferences when it comes to soap making—like why I skip botanicals (they don’t always age well!) and why I prefer a smooth, hand-trimmed bar instead of using a crinkle cutter. This batch features a soft two-color swirl using pink kaolin clay for a clean, simple look. You’ll see the full process from mixing and pouring to cutting and finally stamping the bars after a few days of curing.
