Bassoon: Sophie Dervaux, Fábio Cury Bassoon : J.Püchner, Model Superior Arrangement: Shi Li © All rights by Shi Li, The Universal bassoon Ensamble / TUBE Bassoon Duet:" Dance of the Yao People" : Current piece sources from the original orchestral music Dance of the Yao People. It is dedicated to bassoon player Sophie Dervaux, and Fábio Cury for their debut in 2015 Beijing International Bassoon Art Festival with solo/duet concerts. The music unfolds with solo bassoon where the melody flows in free rhythm (rubato). The entry of a melancholic theme following introduction describes a pair of lovers dancing in moonlight. Tender and mellow, the music progresses in cantabile tranquility as if the lovebirds immersing in silent romance. The theme, as it is progressing, grows into a lively atmosphere where the lovers begin to sing and dance. Excitement brews in the air. A combination of energetic beats and the indigenous Yao dance translates into cheerful motions of leap and whirl and écarté and échappé. Tides after tides of music surge to its climax in beating rhythms as the festive emotions reach the zenith. It is followed by progressively diminishing tones, and fades to a picture of two lovers dancing in sliver moonlight that blurs in the end.
