Pollinators are an important part of our ecosystems, even in the city, and even if you only have a small space you can help them out with some edible habitat. Subscribe 🔔 http://ab.co/GA-subscribe There are more than 2,000 species of native bees in Australia – some have yet to be formally named. There’s a lot we have to learn about them but what we do know is that, as well as being specialist pollinators of native plants, most bees will pollinate a wide range of other plants as well. That includes exotic plants, fruit trees and vegetables. Clarence plants out a pot of some nectar-rich Australian plants that will not only attract native bees but will attract other beneficial insects, from hoverflies to butterflies. 🍃Featured plants: 🌿 Rice Flower (Ozothamnus diosmifolius) Blue Flax Lily (Dianella caerulea) Native Fuchsia (Correa reflexa cv.) Native Daisy (Brachyscome cv.) Running Daisy (Kennedia prostrata) Matted Bush Tea (Pultenaea pedunculata cv.) Flame Pea (Chorizema cv.) This segment is from Gardening Australia Season 35, Episode 37 titled “Summer: Country garden and tropical treats”. ___________________________________________ Gardening Australia is an ABC TV program providing gardening know-how and inspiration.
