MUSC Health's Spine Center Changing Lives and Helping Pay It Forward

Jason Schroyer, a volunteer firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician from Hampton County who had developed Scheuermann's Disease a few years earlier, had been told there was nothing that could be done and he might not be able to work again and would suffer from debilitating back pain for the rest of his life. At 21, Jason wasn't ready to accept that and found Dr. Bart Sachs at MUSC Health. Through a minimally invasive cutting-edge procedure performed by only a handful of surgeons in the country, Dr. Sachs was able to correct the problem and Jason was able to stand up and walk the next morning. Jason started back to work just three months after his surgery on Thanksgiving Day and said he through it was very appropriate since he is so thankful to Dr. Sachs and MUSC Health for giving him his life back and allowing him to save the lives of others.
