Lobby Set Sail for Cowes Week!! Lobby Lobster, the Sea Am’Bass-ador, chartered Blue Seas Protection’s Research Vessel ‘Coastal Protector’ to hold a Sea March at Cowes Week 2022 to raise awareness about ‘The GRIND’. 'The Grind' is a tradition in the Faroe Islands where Faroe Islanders slaughter Whales and Dolphins in their hundreds and thousands for fun. Lobby invites you to join in the ‘Lobster Jumping Jive’ and #StopTheGrind by opting for a #FishFreeFriday to send a UK Consumer Pound message to the UK Government and the Faroes Government: Not 1 Drop of Dolphin or Whale Blood will Taint our UK Tradition of Fish’n’chips. Blue Seas Protection – Fighting Crimes Against Our Oceans, Never Out of Our Depth… In 2019 the UK Government finalised a Fish Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Faroes Islands allowing them to export £864 million of wild caught and farmed fish to Britain per annum (20% of the Faroes Islands trade). Following Sea Shepherd’s exposure of The Grind, Blue Seas Protection created a petition on Petition.Gov, with the help and guidance of wildlife campaigner, Dominic Dyer. The Petition called for the UK Government to 'Suspend trade agreement with the Faroe Islands until all Whale and Dolphin hunts end'; this petition received 104,664 signatures from every Constituency in the United Kingdom and from 120 countries around the world. The UK Government suddenly announced on 29th June 2022 that on 11th July 2022, they would discuss the petition in Westminster Hall! Despite only 13 days notice, Blue Seas Protection + Lobby the Lobster decided to rally the sea-troops! First, Lobby delivered a letter to the Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely at the Conservative's Constituency Office at Northwood House, Isle of Wight asking for his support... Lobby at Northwood House IOW Link: • Lobby Lobbies Bob Seely MP Northwood House... ...then off to London and Westminster Hall to lobby the MPs of Parliament. Unfortunately, Lobby the Lobster was not allowed into the famous Central Lobby, to Lobby Bob Sealy MP, as it was considered, (at the front security gate) that Lobby was a Crustacean NOT a Constituent! Lobby London Link: • Lobby London #STOPtheGRIND 4thJULY2022 Finally, on 11th July 2022 at 6pm, the UK Government discussed the petition in Westminster Hall. Our MP Bob Seely did not attend, despite Lobby's letter, emails and trip to London to Lobby in Central Lobby. BUT 5 Amazing MP's did, John Nicholson SNP, Patricia Gibson SNP, Ruth Cadbury Labour, Kerry McCarthy Labour, all spoke with passion, and in-depth knowledge of #TheGrind which heartened Lobby Lobster.
