Time for another episode of The Ridiculist where Abbey uncovers all the crap you can buy online. This episode is a special Momma and baby themed Ridiculist. Be sure to check out Abbey’s other Ridiculist episodes here: • A DIETITIAN'S Thoughts on WHAT THE HEALTH ... (0:35) Nursery Water Most parents probably remember that in the first few months of life it is recommended to boil your water. This nursery water is apparently a way to skip that step, however it’s also not sterile so you still have to boil the water. Save your money and the environment. (1:27) Babypod Vaginal Speakers According to research by the 26th week a baby utero can listen to intervaginal music which may stimulate language early on. This is pretty cool to abbey, but $150 for this vagina phone seems like the epitome of extra. (3:16) Amber Teething Necklaces These necklaces release succinic acid which can act as a natural analgesic for swollen gums. There’s no research to back up any of these claims. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends avoiding these necklaces because they can lead to choking and strangulation. A safer alternative is a silicone teething toy or lots of cuddles and love. (4:41) Prochild Diaper Alarm Baby Bluetooth Smart Phone Connection… This is attached to your baby’s diaper and basically alarms mother when it’s time to change their diaper. Most diapers have an indicator strip that let you know when it’s wet. Abbey also doesn’t like the idea of having bluetooth technology anywhere near her baby’s junk. (6:47) Chummie Baby Lasso Supposed to control and reduce your baby’s movements when changing a diaper. This sounds promising but when you look at the logistics, it’s really a joke. (8:04) Pee-Pee Teepees Everyone keeps trying to make changing a diaper easier, and really it’s the easiest thing when it comes to parenting. These are surprisingly popular, however as a boy mom whose been peed on many times, having to strap on a dick hat every time is a huge inconvenience.
