Winter mountaineering in Scotland doesn’t get any better than this, with an inversion seeing the mountain tops sitting above the clouds, and a full moon lighting the entire landscape up with ethereal light, it really was one of the mot beautiful nights I’ve ever spent in the mountains of Scotland. Being late December it was cold on top of that Glencoe mountain, but I kept the MSR Elixir 2 as just the inner so I could get that outside experience of camping under the moonlight, and even though I didn’t sleep much, it was the most beautiful night of non sleep I’ve ever had. My new sleeping bag system worked a treat and kept me warm all night even as it dropped down to 5 below freezing.
