Memory 'Total Recall' Module Revision - 'The Major Method'

Do those 'Mega Memory' courses really work? Do you have to have a good memory to learn a new language? This is an excerpt from the Session 3 'Total Recall' Revision resources from my Mindkraft Language Brain Builder programme. In this clip I've included a memory system that my grandfather taught me when I was about 5 years old and has had a profound effect on the way I remember things. The Major Method is one of several systems that we cover in the module. Do these systems really help you achieve anything useful? If you ask me, learning languages isn't about memorising long word lists and then they magically come together in your head. Rather, language needs to come from real sources - people, movies, news stories, social media posts, books, the radio, subtitles ... so how can memory techniques like this be 'useful'? The main thing that these techniques have helped me with aside from being able to memorise my credit card numbers, phone numbers and passport numbers, is that they have helped me develop super fast skills when it comes to thinking up colourful, LOUD mnemonics and mind pictures on the fly that can link anything that wouldn't usually have a sensical relationship, in a sensical way. So much so - as you see in this clip, I can still recall numbers from my childhood just as fast today as I could back then.
