Nate Beccue spoke to the Champaign County Audubon on March 4th, 2021 about Birding Allerton Park, the Allerton Park Bird Club and the Allerton Park Bird Club Podcast. Watch our recorded webinar here! Allerton Park, located in Piatt County is less than 30 minutes from Champaign Urbana, however it is very underbirded. The combination of Allerton Park, IL Department of Natural Resources land and Land Conservation Foundation land forms a contiguous stretch of high quality natural areas totaling approximately 3,000 acres and 5 miles of Sangamon River. This talk will highlight the most common species at Allerton (Pileated Woodpeckers, Red Headed Woodpeckers, Barred Owls) as well as some of the breeding species that might surprise people (Henslow's Sparrow, Prairie Warbler, Bell’s Vireo, Willow Flycatcher) For more information about Allerton Park Bird Club: https://www.allertonparkbirdclub.com/ https://allerton.illinois.edu/birding/ to learn more about Champaign County Audubon Society: www.champaigncountyaudubon.org
