The Fortress of Palamidi in the coastal town of Nafplio, Greece, was built by the Venetians in the early 18th century (Read more: https://letterstobarbara.com/palamidi.... It has a total of eight bastions, and it's a typical example of baroque architecture. The locals claim that you need to climb 999 steps to reach it, but this seems rather exaggerated: in reality, if you want to reach the Palamidi Fortress, you "just" have to walk 857 steps. I reached the Palamidi Fortress on a warm day in early summer. The castle is in excellent condition, and as you can see in the video, one can enjoy spectacular views of the Aegean Sea and Acronauplia. If you happen to be touring around Peloponnese, I think that the Fortress of Palamidi is a must-see.
