Hear the story of “Taking a Chance” with Barra Grant as she tells how she takes us on her thrill-seeking ride with a black sweater, two lions and a mafia boss – and reveals how it taught her about the conga drum feeling in her heart. Storyteller's Bio: Barra Grant is a writer whose screenplays include Slow Dancing in the Big City and Misunderstood, starring Gene Hackman. She wrote and directed the films Life of the Party and Love Hurts. She received a Writer’s Guild Award and was nominated for a DGA award. She’s spent years as a script doctor, rewriting several major motion pictures at various studios. Barra’s play A Mother, A Daughter, and a Gun was produced in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, starring Olympia Dukakis. Barra has told stories at Spark off Rose, Tasty Words, Tales by the Sea and SHINE.
