I've been drilling away at this one for a while, and it just never seemed right, so I kept fiddling with it. Finally I gave up, and just decided to post it! Summary: Aragorn and Legolas have been the closest of friends for many years, though Legolas secretly loves him from afar. Recently, Aragorn has been distancing himself from the elf, and he just can't seem to figure out why. Aragorn has looked into Galadriel's mirror, and what he sees surprises him, leaving him lost and confused. He asks Galadriel about what he saw, and she tells him, "It is the future that may pass if your heart is true." Aragorn doesn't understand how that can be. If his heart is true then he would have seen himself with Arwen, but he didn't. He saw himself with someone else. She simply smiles, and tells him, "The heart finds its own way in all things. Trust yourself Aragorn and you will know." As the fellowship continues on its quest to destroy the one ring Aragorn tries to find his way, while putting as much space between himself and Legolas as possible.
