We'll check out Michigan Central Station, the old Tigers Stadium site, several local favorite bars and eateries, as well as some of the neighborhood homes on this walk through Detroit's Corktown Neighborhood. We start on Michigan Avenue near I-75 and head toward downtown. It's not long before the old train station comes into view, towering over Roosevelt Park. Ford Motor Company recently purchased the train station after it sat abandoned and neglected for decades. It is now being fully restored and updated and will serve as a future vehicle development and design facility; a beautiful symbol of yesterday's heritage connecting with tomorrow's innovation. We'll take a close-up look at the progress being made and then head back over to Michigan Ave. Along the main strip's brick-paved roads are many well-known local restaurants, bars and venues that have made Corktown a place worth coming back to time and again. The old Detroit Tigers Stadium used to sit at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull and is now home to The Corner Ballpark. The old stadium has been torn down and replaced, but the field lives on. We'll catch a glimpse as we peek inside. Finally, we round out our walk by hitting the residential streets and taking one last look down the bricks toward downtown. Definitely check out Corktown if it's been a while, or it's your first time visiting the area. Enjoy the walk!
