In this episode of Faith Imperfect, we’re talking about something so many of us quietly carry — the pressure to be a “perfect” Christian. The pressure to have it all together. To never doubt. To always show up. To know enough Scripture. To look the part. But what if God was never asking for perfection in the first place? I share personal stories about comparison, church culture, guilt, and feeling like I wasn’t “at the same level” as everyone else — and how striving for perfection was actually pushing me away from God instead of drawing me closer. We look at what Scripture really says about weakness, grace, and growth: Romans 3:23–24 reminds us that all have sinned — and all are justified freely by grace. Matthew 9:12–13 shows us that Jesus came for the sick, not the self-righteous. 2 Corinthians 12:9 teaches that God’s power is made perfect in weakness. Philippians 1:6 reassures us that God finishes what He starts. We talk about: How comparison fuels spiritual shame Why perfection leads to burnout The difference between performance and relationship What it means to be a “jar of clay” Why small, consistent steps matter more than dramatic spiritual highs Faith was never meant to be a checklist. It’s a relationship. It’s showing up again. Even after you missed yesterday. Even when you’re tired. Even when it feels small. Consistency isn’t about perfection — it’s about returning. God isn’t waiting for a better version of you. He isn’t disappointed in you. He meets you right where you are. Whether you’re new in your faith, struggling with doubt, or learning to let go of comparison — this episode is an invitation to release the pressure and embrace grace. Because Jesus didn’t come for the polished. He came for the willing. And little obedience adds up to big transformation.
