Pecan nuts are not the most common nut types, but we shouldn’t forget about them! Where I live; pecan nut is definitely not the most popular; I haven’t even heard of them until a couple of years ago. These days though, pecan nuts are a staple in my pantry, and I add them to my morning oatmeal or grab a few as an afternoon snack. These nuts are so yummy! Though pecan pie is a basic American dessert for Thanksgiving, but this little nut goes way beyond that. Health benefits of Pecan nuts Pecan nut is full of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals as well. It is a great source of unsaturated fat, so if you eat a handful of them, you can cover many of your fat needs for the day. A bonus point is that it is a plant-based fat, so it is a great option for those who follow a vegan or plant-based diet. Healthy fats are important for the human body to absorb certain vitamins like vitamin A, K, E, and D. Pecan nuts are full of flavonoids. Flavonoid is a type of antioxidant, and they have more of it than any other nuts. If you eat a diet rich in flavonoids, you will be more resistant to chronic illnesses, like cancer or cardiovascular disease. Pecan nuts are also rich in manganese and copper, some minerals that are not often found in our food. These minerals can help lower your blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease. They also have anti-inflammatory effects and increase your metabolic health. Pecan nuts are great for lowering your cholesterol levels since they are full of monounsaturated fats. They are packed with vitamin E and beta carotene or vitamin A as well, so they can reduce chronic inflammation, which is the cause of many serious diseases. Pecan nuts are great for your immune system! Your immune system is your „Protective wall” that helps you fight viruses, the common cold, and other diseases. They contain a mineral called zinc, which is crucial for your immunity. Pecan nuts and nuts, in general, are great sources of unsaturated fats. If you are on a plant-based diet, then nuts are great to get your fat macronutrients in! Pecan nuts are also great if you crave a snack because just a couple of nuts will satisfy your craving for quite a while.
