岐阜県恵那市にある岩村城は、標高717メートルの高地に築かれた日本三大山城の一つ。 岩村城は、別名「霧ヶ城」とも称される幻想的な城。 岩村城の歴史は鎌倉時代に遡る。 戦国時代の1572年、当時岩村城主だった遠山景任が病死。その後、正室の「おつやの方」が未亡人としてこの城を守った。 岩村城は織田と武田の勢力の間に位置した中、武田家臣の秋山信友が攻略を目論んだ。 秋山信友は策略を使い、おつやの方と婚姻を結ぶことで岩村城を手中にした。 これにより、岩村城は武田家の支配下に入り、織田信長の怒りを買った。 天正3年（1575年）、長篠の戦いで武田軍が敗北すると、織田軍は岩村城を包囲し、秋山信友とおつやの方は捕らえられ処刑された。 その後、織田家重臣の森長可が岩村城主となった。 江戸時代には城下町が整備され、現在も岩村本通りには江戸時代の面影が残る。 この城を特徴づける「六段壁」と呼ぶ石垣は、日本屈指の山城遺構として評価が高い。 また、霧に包まれると天空の城となる岩村城は、歴史とロマンが息づく貴重な史跡である。 平成18年（2006年）には日本100名城に指定された。 城下町は、重要伝統的建造物群保存地区に指定されており、風情ある町並みを散策できるスポットとして人気がある。 日本三大山城／日本百名城／岐阜県恵那市 ____________________________________________________ Iwamura Castle, located in Ena City, Gifu Prefecture, is one of Japan's three great mountain castles, built at an elevation of 717 meters. Iwamura Castle is a fantastic castle, also known as “Kirigajo （Foggy Castle）. The history of Iwamura Castle dates back to the Kamakura period. In 1572, during the Warring States Period, Toyama Kagetoo, then lord of Iwamura Castle, died of illness. After that, his wife “Otsuya no Kata” protected this castle as his widow. While Iwamura Castle was located between the forces of Oda and Takeda, Akiyama Nobutomo, a vassal of Takeda, planned to capture it. Akiyama Nobutomo used trickery to gain control of Iwamura Castle by marrying Otsuya no Kata. This brought Iwamura Castle under the control of the Takeda family and incurred the wrath of Oda Nobunaga. When the Takeda forces were defeated in the Battle of Nagashino in 1575, the Oda forces surrounded Iwamura Castle, and Akiyama Nobutomo and Otsuya no Kata were captured and executed. Later, Mori Nagayoshi, a vassal of the Oda family, became the lord of Iwamura Castle. During the Edo period (1603-1867), the castle town was developed, and even today, traces of the Edo period can still be seen along the Iwamura main street. The castle's distinctive stone wall, called the "Rokudan kabe" is highly regarded as one of Japan's finest mountain castle remains. When shrouded in fog, Iwamura Castle becomes a castle in the sky, a precious historical site steeped in history and romance. In 2006, it was designated as one of the top 100 castles in Japan. The castle town has been designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, and is a popular spot for strolling through its elegant streets.
