It’s 🎄coquito season 🎄and this is a holiday my family and I and many other carribean Latinos look forward to every year. Coquito is kind of like the Puerto Rican version of an eggnog but think coconut and rum flavored! Personally I’m choosing this over spiked eggnog any day and I’m sharing an old school recipe my nana was given years ago that’s probably almost twice as old as me INGREDIENTS: • 2 cups water • 3 cinnamon sticks • 1 tbsp cloves 2 dried star anise • 2 cans evaporated milk • 1 cans sweetened condensed milk • 1 cans coconut cream (cream of coconut) • 1 tbsp vanilla extract ¼ tsp ground nutmeg • 6 egg yolks 1 ½ - 2 cups of rum of choice DIRECTIONS: 1) Bring water to a boil with cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and dried star anise then let simmer for 15 minutes, and cool for 10 more minutes. 2) Mix evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and coconut cream until well combined. Add in egg yolks, vanilla extract, and ground nutmeg. Blend again until well combined. 3) Strain through spiced water and blend again. Add in rum of your choice and blend once more until well combined and enjoyyyy :))) #coquito #puertoricanfood #puertorico #holidaydrinks
