On August 19, the US Departments of Health and Human Services, Labor, and Treasury issued a new Final Rule to implement pieces of the No Surprises Act specific to independent dispute resolution processes within the law. The No Surprises Act, signed into law in late 2021, took effect January 1, 2022. Pieces of the law impacting how providers and insurers interact have been in dispute, but all of the consumer protections of the No Surprises Act are unchanged.
