Our top 5 tips for exploring Croatia and Montenegro: 1. Hvar island. Lavender, olive oil and wine. Hvar has a long standing tradition of making olive oils and wines. We visited Vinarija Braca Plancic and Radojkovic Rajski Vrt (Olive oil manufactory). We enjoyed both visits, and we still enjoy the wines and olive oils that we brought home :) Also, Hvar has outstanding beaches which are not that full of people as other beaches in Hvar. Good point is that you can reach remote beaches or small islands by taxi boats. 2. Ulcinj in Montenegro. Unexpected hidden gem. Long sandy beaches are the main highlight of the area. It is a perfect place for various water sports. 3. Kotor. Kotor Bay is another great place. So peaceful and quiet. Oyster farms around the area are inviting you for some fresh oysters directly from the bay. You dont need to stay in Kotor, there are many other pretty areas to stay: Dobrota, Perast, Herceg Novi, Risan, and others. You can easily reach other places by renting a boat or going by bike. 4. Lovcen National Park. Not only it has Njegos Mausoleum on top of the mountain Lovcen and that represents the history of Montenegro, from up there you can also see the beautiful mountainous nature of Montenegro. 5. Dubrovnik. We stayed in the BnB in Cavtat, which was just an hour boat ride away from Dubrovnik old town. We found it highly convenient, as the boat goes directly to Dubrovnik old town, and you dont need to look for parking and as well, you can enjoy the scenic ride on the boat.
